Oman’s Booming Hospitality Sector: A Glimpse into Future Hotel Developments

Oman is witnessing significant growth in its hospitality sector, with numerous hotels scheduled to begin construction in 2025. This growth is part of a broader strategy to enhance the country’s tourism infrastructure, aiming to add over 40 new hotels and increase the total number of hotel rooms to 33,000 by the end of 2025. Here’s a look at some key hotel developments and their current stages.

Tivoli Muscat Hotel & Residences

Tivoli Muscat Hotel & Residences

The Tivoli Muscat Hotel & Residences, developed by Minor Hotels, is one of the most anticipated luxury projects in Muscat. The development is part of the LA VIE mixed-use community, which will also feature apartments, office spaces, and a clubhouse. The project marks Minor Hotels’ expansion of the Tivoli brand into the Middle East. The hotel and residences are slated for completion in early 2026.

Anantara Bandar Al Khairan Resort

Anantara Bandar Al Khairan Resort

Minor Hotels is also set to expand its Anantara brand with a coastal resort in Bandar Al Khairan. This development will feature 51 guest rooms, 46 chalets, and 24 villas along the mountain shoreline. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2025, with the resort expected to open in the latter part of the same year.

Santani Wellness Resorts

Santani Wellness Resorts

Santani Wellness Resorts, a Sri Lankan eco-friendly wellness brand, is expanding into Oman with two new resorts. These resorts will be located in the Jabal Shams area in the Ad Dakhiliyah Governorate and in Dhofar Governorate.  Together, the resorts will offer 182 accommodations, designed with sustainability at their core.and are set to open in the coming years.

Rathath (Drizzle) Boulevard in Salalah

The Rathath (Drizzle) Boulevard project, located in Salalah’s Itin area in the Dhofar Governorate, is an ambitious 470,000-square-meter development. The project is set to enhance sustainable tourism, commerce, and entertainment in the region. As of December 2024, the project is in its preparatory stage, with tenders having been issued. The development is expected to take four years to complete, with final completion slated for 2028.

Muriya has begun construction of a new 400-key five-star hotel as part of the expansion of its flagship destination, Hawana Salalah, in the Dhofar Governorate. The hotel is in its early construction stage, with completion expected by 2026.

While some projects are still in the planning or preparatory stages, the majority of them are set to begin construction in 2024 or 2025, with most scheduled for completion by 2026 or beyond.
